The Holy Trinity Church and especially its tall belfry have become a symbol of Bansko as one of the most attractive mountain resorts, successfully combining the charm of its rich historical past and its picturesque location at the foot of the mighty Pirin Mountain with the most modern facilities for recreation – a wide choice of reputable hotels for all tastes and budgets, one of the best ski zone in South-East Europe.
The Museum House “Nikola Vaptsarov” is the first museum in Bansko and one of the first museums in the Pirin region. The museum is located in the center of Bansko, next to the central square and near the municipality.
Velyan’s House in Bansko is located near the Holy Trinity Church and the central square of the town. The house is an example of the architectural style – fortified house of the Bulgarian Revival Period. Velyan’s House was built in the 18th century and was opened to visitors in 1977.
Paisiy Hilendarski monument is located on the Vazrajdane square in Bansko. It is supposed that the the place where the monument was erected is where Paisiy’s house was once located. The monument was created in 1976 by the sculptor Stoycho Todorov.
The International Jazz Festival in Bansko is the biggest summer musical event in Bulgaria. The enormous popularity which the festival enjoys among specialists and fans across the world has turned it into one of the foremost international cultural happenings in the Balkans.
Because of the unique biodiversity and spectacular natural formations of Pirin, the Government of Bulgaria has established over 40,000 ha of mountain protected area – Pirin National Park. It is a piece of nature that is a priceless Bulgarian and world heritage and is included in UNESCO’s “Man and the Biosphere” program.
The Dancing bears park is located in Rila Mountain at about 180 km south of Sofia. The park hosts 24 former dancing bears which were held in captivity and later rescued by volunteers and “Four paws” – the animal protection organization. Dancing Bears Park Belitsa, was founded in year 2000 and after the expansion work in 2003 to 2004, it now covers over 120,000 sq. m. of natural terrain. Until 2007 all of them were rescued and set free in the park.
Nikola Vaptsarov Community Center in the town of Bansko is the biggest cultural institution on the territory of Bansko Municipality. Established in 1894 and named ‘Selska Pochivka’ (Villagers’ Rest), nowadays the Community Center is a keeper of the book heritage, the traditions and customs of the locals. The Center library has around 50 000 books.
Gondola lift connects Bansko with Banderishka polyana. Up at Baderishka Poliana you can use ski slopes #1 and #2, there are tubing, restaurants, children’s play area and a soccer field.

The local police department in Bansko is located near the center of the town and right next to Glazne river.
In case of emergency you need to call the national emergency number 112. On this phone you may contact the emergency medical center, police department, fire brigade, mountain rescue service. The Tourist Information Center in Bansko is located at the center of the town, near the Bansko municipality. The center is a government institution which organizes the participation of Bansko municipality in tourist expositions.
If you do not have a car, the best way for you to travel to the nearby cities and to some of the bigger cities in Bulgaria is by bus. You will find Bansko bus station very easy. The station is located near the main entrance of the city (coming from Blagoevgrad). The bus station is small, but you have enough bus lines to travel everywhere you want in Bulgaria.
The train station in Bansko is small and provides train lines to just a few nearby cities like Dobrinishte, Razlog, Velingrad and Pazardjik.
The ski rental center in Bansko is located near the Gondola cabin lift in Bansko Bulgaria. Right next to the ski rental center there is a huge parking where you can park your car and take the lift for the ski zone and the ski tracks.
