The Pirin Mountain resort Bansko has become a regular venue for FIS World Cup events.
Consistently recognized at the World Ski Awards in Kitzbühel for several consecutive years, Bansko has solidified its status as a preferred destination for top-tier international winter sports competitions.
Nestled amidst the breathtaking Pirin Mountain range, Bansko has demonstrated its dedication and competence in hosting prestigious winter sports gatherings. Since the 2007/08 season, it has organized eight events from the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup calendar, comprising four women’s and four men’s competitions across various ski disciplines. Additionally, Bansko has successfully managed three FIS World Cup Snowboard events and had the privilege of hosting the FIS Alpine Junior World Championships in 2021. The resort further bolstered its reputation by hosting the FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships in March 2023, underscoring its ability to orchestrate high-caliber alpine ski and snowboard competitions. With its outstanding track record, Bansko remains a sought-after destination for premier winter sports events.

According to the FIS calendar for the upcoming season, Bulgaria will make history by hosting World Cup events in both alpine skiing and snowboarding within the same year for the first time.
On February 10 and 11, 2024, Bansko will welcome the world’s top alpine skiers to compete in two thrilling disciplines: giant slalom and slalom. This marks the second time Bulgaria’s Best Ski Resort (as recognized by the World Ski Awards) has hosted these men’s events, following the successful hosting in 2012. In another milestone, the Bulgarian resort of Pamporovo will debut as a World Cup host, showcasing two snowboard races in parallel slalom on January 20 and 21.

The decision to award Bulgaria with these prestigious events reflects the confidence placed in the country by the International Ski Federation (FIS), a testament to the exceptional organizational efforts of the Bulgarian Ski Federation since 2007. Over the years, Bulgaria has hosted a total of 8 World Cup skiing events and 3 snowboarding events in Bansko, along with a Snowboarding World Cup in Sofia, and FIS Alpine Junior World Championships in both skiing and snowboarding. Additionally, since 2003, Bansko, Borovets, Pamporovo, and Osogovo have collectively hosted 13 European Cup events in alpine skiing and snowboarding.
The confirmation of the World Cup schedule for the 2023/24 season was announced by the Council of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) during its Spring Session held in Zurich on May 24th.
More than 30,000 visitors are anticipated to flock to Bansko during the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Bansko 2024, scheduled for February 10-11. We aim to ensure that every individual enjoys an unforgettable experience. To achieve this goal, the key priority is to extend a warm welcome to all visitors, greeting them with friendly smiles and professionalism as they arrive in Bansko.

The resort’s distinctive and authentic taverns perfectly capture the vibrant essence of a modern international destination.
