Bansko Municipality, in a bid to enhance outdoor recreation, has recently unveiled a brand-new bike lane as part of the “Establishment of Cross-Border Cultural Cooperation” project. Stretching 2250 meters from Bansko to the St. Nikola archaeological complex, this cycling route offers enthusiasts a thrilling journey through captivating landscapes and historical sites.
Mountain biking isn’t just a sport; it’s a lifestyle that promotes fitness, endurance, and a deep connection with nature. Unlike some recreational activities, mountain biking is eco-friendly, leaving minimal impact on the environment while providing riders with an exhilarating and rewarding experience. Bansko’s mountain biking trails cater to riders of all skill levels, offering a diverse range of routes that traverse scenic landscapes and charming settlements. Each route is marked with a unique color-coded system, ranging from one to five stars to indicate difficulty levels.
- Ponderosa Route (Red Marking, 5 Stars, 42km): Beginning at Predel location, this challenging route branches off to St. Ekaterina location and Katarino SPA 4* Hotel in the city of Razlog. Alternatively, riders can opt for a path that passes through old forest roads to the village of Bachevo.
- Perfect Day Route (Orange Marking, 4 Stars, 18km): Offering a moderately challenging ride, this route starts from Bansko or the Pirin Golf Club area, skirting the border of Pirin National Park for breathtaking views.
- Foxy Lady Route (Pink Marking, 3 Stars, 25km): This route leads riders from Bansko to the village of Banya, passing through picturesque landscapes and quaint villages along the way.
- Dead Dog Route (Blue Marking, 3 Stars, 23km): Explore the foothills of Pirin above Bansko, journeying towards Dobrinishte before looping back to Bansko via St. Nikola.
- Road to Nowhere Route (Green Marking, 2 Stars, 20km): Starting from Bezbog Hut, this route promises an exhilarating downhill ride through Dobrinishte and Bansko.
- Mud Bath Route (Red Marking, 2 Stars, 15km): Enjoy a downhill ride from Gotse Delchev Hut to Dobrinishte, passing through lush forests and charming villages.
- The Flying Scotsman Route (Yellow Marking, 3 Stars, 22km): Beginning at Bezbog Hut, this route offers a thrilling descent to Dobrinishte or continues to Trionska meadow before concluding in Bansko.
